Wanderings is a collection of reflections inspired by the world around me.

Sometimes a conversation, a walk in the forest, a book, the lyrics of a song, a painting or sculpture … or a cross-country road trip, will spark a question or reveal a new way of seeing. These moments often arrive unexpectedly, inviting me to pause, pay attention, and explore what lies beneath the surface.

While the content in Stillness page explores the inner landscape through meditation, contemplation, and presence, Wanderings looks outward toward the experiences, places, people, and ideas that shape our lives. Yet the two are not separate. The outer world often reflects something within us, and our inner life influences how we experience the world around us.

Here you'll find personal , observations, stories from daily life, reflections on change and transition, nature, creativity, philosophy, culture, and the many questions that arise while making our way through this human experience.

These writings do not seek to provide answers so much as invitations—to wonder, to question, and to see familiar things from a different perspective.

I hope you'll wander here with me.

The Places We Choose

I've come to believe that places quietly shape us. Not because they change who we are overnight, but because they influence the rhythm of our days. Maybe the greatest luxury isn't escaping our lives—it's creating one we're grateful to return to.

The Texture of Things

Over the years I've come to realize that I rarely remember the polished things. It's the textured ones that stay with me—the loose threads, the worn edges, the evidence that something has been made, handled, repaired, and loved.

The Gift of Beginning Again

Sometimes I catch myself stocking the produce cooler at work and think, “How did I get here?” I look at my 17-, 18-, and 23-year-old co-workers and find myself reflecting on when I was their age, doing much the same thing. Back then it was The Herb & Spice Shop in Ottawa. Today it's The Root Cellar in Charlottetown.

The Music That Followed Me

Some songs become more than music. They quietly accompany us through life, carrying memories of childhood, family, love, loss, and the places we've called home.

A Day Alone

As children, long summer afternoons seemed endless. Somewhere along the way, those quiet moments became harder to find. A day to myself reminded me that solitude isn't something to fear—it may be something we've simply forgotten how to embrace.

Where Are All the Baby Crows?

I found myself wondering how many things in nature are like this. Entire chapters of a life unfolding beyond our awareness. We assume we understand the story because we see the ending, forgetting that most of what shapes a life happens out of sight.

Purr-fect Peace: Why Cat Owners Should Practice Meditation

Cats are masters of living in the present moment, unapologetic about their boundaries and completely unconcerned with meeting anyone else's expectations. Perhaps that is why living with cats is, in many ways, a meditation practice all its own.

What the Clouds Cannot Hide

We are often so close to our experiences that we mistake the passing cloud for the sky itself. We assume that a difficult time is the whole story. Yet when we look back on our lives, we can usually see something quite different.

The Creative Life Returns

There are seasons when creativity flows effortlessly and seasons when it seems to disappear altogether. Looking back, I can see that creativity wasn't gone—it was simply waiting for stillness, space, and a place to land once again.
