The Creative Life Returns
After a year focused on moving across the country, I’m beginning to feel the quiet return of creativity…
I’ve moved a lot in my life — from the time I was two weeks old, actually! Somehow, this last move felt especially epic.
From the moment I first started feeling the impulse to move from our home in rural British Columbia in early March 2025, to the day we finally got in the car with our cat Gracie on March 22, 2026, there was so much to do.
We were fairly certain we wanted to move to Charlottetown or the surrounding area, but having never been here before, we decided to make a visit in September 2025. From the moment we stepped off the plane, something in me felt that it was right. During those two weeks, we travelled through the area not as tourists, but through the eyes of people imagining a life here.
I’ll write more about that first visit in a future post.
Jump forward to today, to this moment of sitting down to write this very first blog post, and my excitement feels almost overflowing. Painting, writing, recording meditations, sharing reflections and perhaps — dare I say it — a little wisdom (I think after 60 years of walking this earth, I can probably say that now!).
With every walk through small towns, forests, beaches and quiet roads, my inspiration grows exponentially. This feels like where I am meant to be.
And while the six years we spent in the mountains of British Columbia will always hold a very special place in my heart, PEI feels like a place where I may finally plant deep roots.
Perhaps this will become my final stomping grounds?
Then again… I’ve always had a wandering heart, so never say never.
